Native App: Live Person Mobile in Webview not working

Hi,

We are using your Live Person mobile product and are having trouble getting it to work when the web page is within a webview in a mobile native app (specifically iOS). I have pinned it down to being the user agent. As they differ from the normal mobile browser to the web view within an app. Unfortunately, I don't have any control over what user agent the web view uses and so can't force this to work by explicitly setting it. When using an unsupported user agent string the agents are always shown as being offline, which is obviously no good.

The user agent strings are as follows for an iPhone 5C with iOS 7.1.1 installed:

Safari: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebkit/537.51 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11D201 Safari/9537.53

App Webview: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebkit/537.51 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/11D201

I expect it is down to the fact that Safari isn't mentioned in the user agent string. Having a quite search through the liveperson-mobile.js file there are references to Safari in the user agent string and support for it.

Something we've also noticed is that various other user agents are not supported by the product. For instance, using an emulated user agent string for a Kindle Fire HDX does not work with the Live Person mobile script either.

Please help me resolve this problem as we have had to remove Live Person mobile from our site until this can be resolved.

Thanks,

Chris
