pinch-zoom support for LP Mobile in LiveEngage 2.0

Hi all,

(Posting this as a new question)

In a recent discussion about the need to disable pinch-zoom for LP Mobile (https://connect.liveperson.com/thread/4781 ), Ann-Marie Sisson remarked:

I believe that when you eventually move to the new LiveEngage platform it will resolve this as the chat window will also be responsive

Question:   can anyone confirm this? Is it true that with LE 2.0, the LP mobile UI will no longer require pinch-zoom to be disabled? (Any timelines for this?)

The problem is, a customer of ours really insists on keeping pinch-zoom enabled on their responsive site, so this is currently blocking us from using LP Mobile... which they actually really want to use.

Incidentally, I think our customer is right. Pinch-zoom should be enabled, even on responsive sites.

Ann-Marie Sisson:
(...) responsive website adapts its layout to match the screen on which it is being displayed (smartphone or tablet) and pinch and zoom should not be necessary.

No matter how well the design "responds" to the device size/type etc, it is (as yet) impossible to account for varying levels of eyesight.

Therefore, accessibility guidelines demand that the text should be zoomable to 200% (What Does Responsive Web Design Have to do with Accessibility? - SSB BART Group ).

So the challenge is up to the web designers to adapt the layout to match the screen AND still allow for the user to influence the end result.
