Liveperson for linux

I and the other members within my company use linux (Ubuntu). We like the idea of live person, yet there is no support for linux.

 

I downloaded a copy of liveperson, and managed to get it running with WINE. I thought everything was going well, but after I started everything up, added my operators, embedded the code in the webpage I ran into a terminal problem.

 

Customers(me testing as a customer) could click on the chat button, this would load a window. They could type in there, yet I could not see in the agent console what they were typing. Me (as an operator) could type in the agent console to them, they could see this, but again, there was no recording of what I had said, or they had said in the agent console, which made the tool impossible to use live.

 

I was directed by a very helpful liveperson support member to the new browser version of the agent console, but was basically told my computer didnt support this *because I use linux*.

 

1) Does anyone have any solutions (we would not change back to windows) and

2) Isnt it time liveperson starts supporting linux distributions? More and more companies are moving down the open source route, and it seems liveperson are not only limiting their support area, but also losing potential customers (such as me, who would have began using live person asap if it had worked for us).

Is there any APIs that we can call in order to get the data from the following standard reports that provide by the Live Person?

  • Averages
  • Operator Performance
  • Volume
  • Pre-Chat/ Exit Surveys Analysis

 

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know whether you can use the Chat API (javscript) with the new liveEngage platform? If so, how would one set a custom pre-chat survey with a specific campaign?

Chat JavaScript v3 Coming Soon & Chat JavaScript v2 Phase Out

Dear LivePerson Developers,

 

I'd like to announce our upcoming version of JavaScript v3 which will be released soon. In order to concentrate our efforts on the new version, we are now phasing out our Chat JavaScript Chat v2.

 

JS v2 added support for surveys, but lacked the integration of dynamic buttons (which exists in JS v1). For new developers we currently recommend using the JS v1. The new JSv3 will support surveys, and later on will also support integration with dynamic buttons.

 

The following functions are not supported in JS v1:

1. getPreChatSurvey()

2. getExitSurvey()

3. submitExitSurvey(survey)

4. getOfflineSurvey()

5. submitOfflineSurvey(survey)

6. onPreChatSurvey(survey)

7. onExitSurvey(survey)

8. onSubmitExitSurvey()

9. onOfflineSurvey(survey)

10. onSubmitOfflineSurvey()

 

 

JS v1 is signified by:

src = c.lpChatSrc ? c.lpChatSrc : '/hcp/html/lpChatAPI.js

 

As a reminder, JS v2 is signified by pulling the following resource, which still remains available for usage:

src = c.lpChatSrc ? c.lpChatSrc : '/hcp/html/jschatapiv2.js

Page Speed Optimization: Compressing LivePerson .js files

Hello,

 

My site http://hartfordrents.com/ is currently running the chat module on all of it's pages and it's a great tool for our sales staff to engage potential leads who are browsing our site.  However, while optimizing the site for faster load time I noticed that about a half-dozen files like http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/s-79072622/?cmd=lpTagGetJsSnippets are being requested and delivered to the end user uncompressed.

 

Is there a way to enable compression or CDN caching to speed up the delivery of these files?

Agent Console suddenly fails to launch

Today when I launched the LivePerson Agent Console, it started the usual download, then threw a " Failed to launch application. Exception description java.lang.NullPointerException." This was soon followed by a Synthetica License Warning saying "It looks like you are using an invalid or outdated Synthecita license. Pleae post your License Registration Number to the Support Center and request a valid license key."

 

I've never heard of Synthetica.

 

When I uninstall my LivePerson Agent Console (via Programs and Features), then go here to download it: http://community.liveperson.com/docs/DOC-1251, the same thing happens; it starts to run the download then throws the " Failed to launch application. Exception description java.lang.NullPointerException" error.

 

Has anyone ever reported this?

 

I see that others have posted the problem (not for LivePerson) and the only advice I found was that this is a JDownloader bug and to change "style". (I have little idea what this would involve.)

 

I *thought* I saw in a page that listed Agent Console requirements that it requires a 32-bit Java. But I can't find that page to confirm this. I did uninstall my 64-bit Java and installed a 32-bit version, but that didn't help.

 

So I'm hoping someone else has run into this problem and found the solution here.

iPhone Agent Console - Unable to log in

Just downloaded and installed iPhone agent console.  Set server to   server.iad.liverperson.net     cannot log in.  Keep getting the error message "Unable to login - Message 0 Unexpected problems encountered".

 

Any suggestions?

DataAccess error since last Saturday (May 30)

Hi,

 

We have been using DataAccess for retrieving files for over 2 years now. We are running a daily script that logs in to the DataAccess API, reads the available files and retrieves the new files, so they can be loaded to our datawarehouse. Process has been running without any problems, till last Saturday. Now we're getting an error message saying: ERROR: White spaces are required between publicId and systemId. Anyone else that has experienced the same problem and knows how to solve it? I suspect there has been some kind of change on LivePerson side, because we haven't made any change on our side and it was working fine before. Best regards, Geert

So, is there is any way of getting User locale using API, i need it in order to produce response on correct language since my virtual agent should be working with different locales?

Passing custom parameters from chat button

Hi,

 

Our company has just signed up for an LP account, and I have been charged with integrating the chat button into our website.  I made the button, put the button code into our website and have the basic functionality working.  I got stuck on trying to pass custom parameters from our website to the Operator software.  I tried to look for solutions on this discussion board, but could not find the solution that fits our case.

 

In particular, I went to the Advanced Options for our button, and added a tracking variable:

Name: userid

Value: <%userid%>

Scope:Session

 

After doing this, once the user clicks the Chat Button, the Operator software shows the Custom Variable:

userid : <%userid%>

 

So, the value portion of the variable is taken verbatum.  And I would like to know how to make it dynamic.

 

The HTML+javascript code for our button is this:

What would be a way for me to pass custom variables from the Chat Button on our website, so that they are shown in the Operator client window?

Questions on Facebook Chat Application

I have setup the Facebook application on our company's page, that was easy.

 

Is there a setting I can change that will allow users to chat with us WITHOUT having to share their info (more specifically their friend list)?? I see this as a potential roadblock for people using this.LivePerson-Facebook_App.gif

 

Thoughts? Ideas?

iFrame Embed no Longer Working

Community Members,

 

We have been using an iframe emded of our live chat window in a web page for over a year now. Recently (within the last couple of weeks), the iframe stopped working and the live person window started redirecting the entire page.

On the chat window, we have 2 buttons, 'Click to chat' and 'No thanks'. On click of 'Click to chat' button, need to call a javascript function. Is it possible and how to do that?

I have created a developer and test account and added my test app based on iphone demo app into test account.

 

My question is how I can setup "site","Skill" and URI to be able to test the app.

 

I have read the docs but cannot find the solution.

 

Would be much appreciated if someone can share some ideas.
